Root canal therapy is designed to save a tooth that has become severely decayed or infected. The root canal is the space within the tooth root that contains the pulp tissue. When this pulp becomes infected, it can cause intense pain and eventually lead to bone loss around the affected root. To treat the infection and save the tooth, the dentist removes the infected pulp from the chamber and cleans the debris from the root canal. The space is then filled and sealed with a special material, effectively restoring the tooth’s function. This process is called root canal therapy.
Common Symptoms Indicating the Need for Root Canal Treatment:
Severe tooth pain, especially when chewing
Pain that worsens when lying down and improves when sitting up
Lingering pain after consuming cold food or drinks
Swelling and persistent pain around the affected tooth
Tooth pain radiating to the head, neck, or ears
